Ergonomics Training and Consulting - Approach
OUR APPROACH

Your employees work hard and you want them to know how to stay healthy.

Every work-related injury can easily be prevented with basic knowledge and skills. EK Ergonomics takes a proactive approach to keep your employees ahead of ergonomic problems.

In order to achieve this we:

  • Analyze and optimize your work environment
  • Conduct symptom surveys
  • Urge your employees to report symptoms early
  • Provide proactive training for all employees about basic ergonomics and healthy work styles
  • Monitor and support your high-risk employees

Who is at the most risk?

In general, people who are out of shape physically, but ambitious to achieve at work are at high risk. They often work beyond their physical capabilities and continue despite their pain. Sitting for hours in front of a computer diminishes energy because of reduced circulation. The body is resilient, but recovers slowly once injured. It is important to communicate to your employees the need to report discomfort as soon as possible to avoid spending time and money on recovery. Musculoskeletal disorders are costly, painful and unpredictable:

Sean works 10-12 hrs daily as a programmer. Lately he has been putting in 6 hrs on Sundays to complete his project, and he eats lunch at his desk to avoid interruption. He starts skipping his usual workout routine and begins to notice pain in his wrists. He takes painkillers daily to control his symptoms, but they worsen: his hands are numb and his fingertips are cold. His shoulders and neck are sore as well. By the time the project is complete and he finally has time to see a doctor, his hands are so sore he cannot even work half days. The doctor takes him off work for at least 6 weeks and sends him to physical therapy. He is unable to participate in the next project.

Our consultants offer onsite RSI coaching for employees with beginning or later stage RSI symptoms.

The earlier your intervention, the greater your success!
